In this section you will find our archive of sold engravings, a historical collection comprising etchings, lithographs, woodcuts, photogravures, aquatints, drypoints, maps, portraits, religious prints, city views, scientific plates and other antique works of graphic art that were previously available at Antiguedades.es.

Sold antique engravings and historical archive of graphic art

Over the years, numerous engravings produced using different printing techniques on paper have passed through our gallery. Some works were signed, dated or identified with the name of the artist, engraver, printer or publisher, while others stood out for the quality of the impression, the age of the paper, the precision of the drawing, the colouring or the historical interest of the subject represented.

This archive makes it possible to approach the history of art, illustration and visual culture through religious images, portraits, maps, landscapes, cities, monuments, historical scenes, scientific plates and decorative compositions. It also offers a reference for the techniques and processes used to reproduce and distribute images during different periods.

This archive constitutes a historical catalogue of sold antique engravings and not an active sales section. If you would like to see the works currently available, you can visit our antique engravings for sale section, where we regularly add carefully selected new examples.

Historical archive of sold etchings, lithographs and woodcuts

Among the works included in this archive are etchings from metal plates, black-and-white or colour lithographs, chromolithographs, woodcuts, aquatints, drypoints, photogravures and works produced using mixed techniques. Each process provides its own characteristic line, texture, depth and visual quality.

The subjects include religious engravings, portraits of historical figures, maps and plans, city views, landscapes, architecture, genre scenes, historical events, botany, zoology, anatomy, astronomy and other scientific subjects. These works make it possible to compare styles, types of paper, inscriptions, margins, printing systems and forms of representation corresponding to different periods.
