In this section you will find our archive of sold maps, a historical collection comprising original antique maps, city plans, engraved maps, atlases, world maps, nautical charts, maps of countries and regions and other cartographic documents that were previously available at Antiguedades.es.

Sold antique maps and historical archive of cartography

Over the years, numerous maps produced using historical printing techniques, such as copper engraving, woodcut and lithography, have passed through our gallery. Some pieces came from atlases, travel books, geographical treatises or scientific publications, while others were published as independent cartographic works.

This archive makes it possible to approach the history of geography, travel, navigation and exploration through representations of cities, countries, regions, continents, coastlines, maritime routes and historical territories. It also offers a visual reference for the development of borders, geographical names and ways of representing the world during different periods.

Many of these maps retained ornamental cartouches, scales, legends, compass roses, rhumb lines, inscriptions naming cartographers and publishers, wide margins or antique colouring.
