Very Antique Photographic Camera Obscura. Circa 1880
Very antique photographic camera obscura made circa 1880, in good condition and with a remarkable evocative beauty. This is quite an ancient piece, more than one hundred and thirty years old and greatly preserved. The camera bears no manufacturer’s signature and seems to have been made by an amateur photographer who decided to build his own model o maybe a prototipe. This artisanal quality provides the article with quite a special charm. The structure is composed of solid-mahogany wooden pieces connected by screws and nails. The camera also preserves the brass hinges, the plate charger, the leather bellows (in very good condition and with no torn or worn parts) and the original objective, a pinhole model. This component part can be removed in order to mount a similar lens, bigger or smaller. Though, this camera obscura only includes the objective that we can see in the images.
Nostalgic, original from the time and gorgeous, this antique photographic camera obscura conveys us to photography’s early days.
Dimensions: Width: 7 in / 17.5 cm. Height: 7.2 in / 18 cm. Bellows’ Length: 9.2 in / 23 cm.
