Antique Commercial Scale. Circa 1900
Antique commercial scale manufactured circa 1900, in very good condition and featuring a design full of charm and beauty. The scale is well-preserved and in working order, although the pointer and scale have been lost over the years. Even so, it is truly attractive and could still be used with a set of weights. The scale features a three-legged base with a central cylindrical support, an upper crossbar with two pans, a horizontal bar to keep the crossbar steady, and another small crossbar beneath the upper one for weighing smaller items. The pans on the upper crossbar have two small hooks on the underside, allowing objects to be weighed by hanging them from the hooks. The scale is made entirely of brass; the metal is in excellent condition and retains its original period clear varnish, which gives it a beautiful patina.
