Antique Dress Sash of Infantry General Manuel Manso Rozas. Spain, 1919
Antique dress sash of Infantry General Manuel Manso Rozas, made in 1919 and featuring an engraved plaque. General Manso Rozas served in the 53rd Infantry Regiment of King Alfonso XIIIs army, as indicated by the inscription engraved on the silver plaque on the lid of the case. The inscription states that the sash was a gift to the General upon his promotion from the rank of Colonel. As was customary for uniforms of the era, the sash is made of red woven silk and features gold-embroidered tassels. At the ends, it has two red silk bands embroidered with the grey leaves characteristic of the uniform. The case is in very good condition; the white satin lining bears the name and address of the royal supplier who made the garment. Inside the case is a handwritten card, signed by the General Chief of Artillery of Navarre, Don Vicente Abreu Madariaga, with the inscription: Very grateful and honoured that General Mansos sash was the first to be worn by a general. The envelope containing the card is also handwritten. On it we can read: Three sons of General Manso.
Complete, elegant, and entirely original, this antique dress sash belonging to General of Infantry Manuel Manso Rozas is a historical artefact worthy of a museum of military artefacts.
