Magnificent antique Rheinmetall calculator, manufactured in Germany by the Sömmerda company in the 1940s-1950s. This impressive machine is well-preserved and works perfectly. It reliably performs the four basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This calculator uses the Leibniz system, and its quality made it a very popular design in its day. The metal casing features a gray enamel finish with a martelé texture, and the keys are made of gray Bakelite with black and white numerals. This understated color scheme makes this calculator a functional, elegant, and decorative piece.

Rheinmetall calculators were manufactured by the Sömmerda company, located in Thuringia, Germany. Based on the mechanical system designed by Gottfried Leibniz in the 17th century, they were efficient and reliable machines. The company began manufacturing its three calculator brands-Rheinmetall, Supermetall, and Soemtron-in 1889, ceasing production in the 1970s. In 1968, BWS Sömmerda merged with Kombinat Robotron to manufacture personal computers, but competition from Western companies led the firm to close its doors in 1991.

This fantastic calculator is a testament to the company's heyday. Its design is simple and very compact, and it is easy and efficient to use. The keys and other moving parts are all original and work perfectly. To the left of the keypad is the brand name, which forms the embossed logo in silver. On the back of the calculator, you can see the letter S inside a triangle, accompanied by two sets of numbers: at the top, the serial number 192094; and below that, 37/286/0000.
