Exquisite men's hat pin in two-tone solid gold. France, late 19th century.

Exquisite men's hat pin in two-tone solid gold, made in France in the late 19th century. It is a beautiful piece of jewelry crafted in 18-karat yellow and white gold. This fantastic piece resembles a small, delicate sword of exquisite craftsmanship. It features a meticulously crafted hilt with helical ridges, completely lined with gold cord, and topped by a spherical yellow gold pommel engraved with geometric lattice patterns. The mount features several undulating quillons extending from the pommel to the crossguard, topped with beautiful volutes, which undoubtedly highlight the highly decorative nature of this fantastic piece of jewelry. On the guard, there is a small embossed coat of arms, which is replicated on the reverse side. The long, slender, straight blade is crafted from solid white gold, features a central fuller, and is-like the entire piece-in excellent condition, despite being the part most susceptible to wear. The pin comes with its original brown leather case, lined with red velvet and white satin, custom-made for this specific piece with a shape that perfectly fits the sword's contours. It opens at the top via a hinge, clearly revealing the manufacturer's name-PAUL HEMELIN-and address in gold lettering. On the outside of the case, the letters "E.D." are visible, which are presumably the initials of the original owner of this magnificent piece.

A beautiful piece of men's jewelry, perfect for special occasions.
