Valuable Alfonsino Pendant, Crafted in Gold, Platinum, Diamonds, and Ivory. Early 20th century
Beautiful Alfonsino pendant with a chapel-style design, crafted in the early 20th century (most likely in the 1920s) using materials of the highest quality: 18K solid gold, platinum, diamonds, and ivory. The name of the style, "chapel-style," refers to a characteristic design of this type of jewelry in which a small chapel houses the image or figure being depicted. In this case, it is a bust of the Virgin. This bust is crafted from delicately carved ivory and is in good condition. The small chapel surrounding the bust is made of solid 18K gold. Around the image of the Virgin are several platinum settings, which hold a total of seventeen diamonds cut in the old-style. The piece is as opulent as it is valuable, and the delicate craftsmanship on display, combined with the quality of the materials, results in a beautiful piece of antique jewelry.
The pendant is presented in an antique case. Although it is not the original case, it matches the size and style of the jewelry well and is also the perfect place to store and protect it. Thanks to both its elaborate craftsmanship and its intrinsic beauty, this pendant is a stunning example of antique jewelry that will stand out in even the most discerning collector's display case.
