Large French Table Clock with candelabra, 19th Century. Made of Bronze

A large mantel clock with a matching pair of gilded bronze candelabra, dating from the 19th century, likely from the period between 1870 and 1900. This is an impressive three-piece set that stands out for its lavish ornamentation and excellent state of preservation. The clock functions perfectly and is very well preserved, including the movement, the bronze case, and the porcelain dial. In particular, the dial is intact, with no chips or cracks, and features delicate decoration accompanying the black Arabic numerals.

The movement bears a stamp featuring a horseshoe logo and the word "PARIS," accompanied by the serial number: 81140 followed by the letter J. This stamp attests that it is a Paris-made movement, which also functions perfectly, having been serviced and adjusted. The clock consists of a rectangular case made entirely of intertwined bronze volutes that create a beautiful openwork pattern. The case rests on a solid base with four intricately carved legs. Vegetal volutes extend from the case and seem to spread across the base as if they were a climbing plant. The clock is topped by an ornate finial, shaped like a cup from which volutes emerge as if from a fountain.

The candelabra feature similar decoration and complement the clock perfectly. The four lights, perfectly preserved, stand on a square base of the same style. The upper part of the candelabra features a delicate ornament with a silhouette resembling two symmetrical wings. The gilded bronze is in perfect condition, and its fine filigree and volutes make this set a true work of art in French metalwork. Without a doubt, this clock and the pair of candelabra that accompany it are exceptional pieces due to their imposing presence, their age, and their superb craftsmanship.
