Large French Monumental Clock with a Pair of Bronze candelabra, ca. 1820. Works Perfectly

Stunning bronze set made in France between 1820 and 1830, consisting of a monumental table clock and two candelabra. All three pieces are handcrafted and constitute authentic works of art in bronze. The clock is large and pyramid-shaped, its body formed by multiple gilt-bronze volutes that intertwine with one another in a highly Baroque design. Alongside the volutes, we can also see the figures of three charming children-two on either side of the base and another crowning the clock. The piece stands on a gilded pedestal with a top lined in red velvet. The pedestal has been restored and is in very good condition.

The clock features a wire-suspension movement and has been serviced so that it functions perfectly. Although the glass and the dial have some minor imperfections, these are minor details when considering the spectacular design of the piece as a whole, its age, and the quality of its materials and finishes. The numerals are Prussian blue, and the hands are exquisite, crafted from bronze with the metal formed into hollow filigree. The clock's decoration is undoubtedly striking, featuring asymmetrical and dynamic shapes that lend it a strong sense of movement.

The candelabra each have six lights, and although they appear to be identical, they are actually different. In keeping with the clock's ornate, Baroque style, they feature a rich, varied decoration, with the central section standing out-it depicts a nude child figure lightly covered by garlands of leaves. The rest is adorned with floral motifs and volutes that blend perfectly with the clock's design. The candelabra were electrified at some point and still bear the holes through which the wires once passed. These holes are located in places where they cannot be seen and are concealed. This set of clock and candelabra will delight even the most discerning collector with its great beauty, style, and impressive presence.
