Exquisite French Bronze Table Clock. Year 1880. In Perfect Condition
This exclusive table clock dates from the year 1880. It is made of polished bronze and is of French origin, and is in magnificent condition and working order. The clock has been fully serviced and adjusted, and the bronze has been cleaned and polished to give it a truly impeccable appearance. It is a beautiful work of art, featuring elegant and delicate lines, whose exquisite craftsmanship rivals its value as an antique. It is a highly decorative piece, rich in Baroque-style ornamentation, yet at the same time, the design is very balanced and conveys a profound sense of serenity.
The polished, lustrous finish of the bronze is consistent throughout the piece. Even the dial is made of this material, with the numerals being the only porcelain elements. These are white pieces with black Roman numerals, which complement the simple metal hands. The dial is protected by a round glass and bronze cover that is also perfectly preserved. The movement is signed, bearing the following inscription on the metal: H & F PARIS. Just below the inscription, the clock's serial number is visible: 3011.
The clock's design is based on a vertically oriented rectangular case, which rests on a base whose legs are adorned with prominent Doric-inspired volutes. This classical inspiration is also evident in the four slender fluted columns that flank the clock case, which are topped with acanthus scrolls. The upper section features a finial that crowns the entire piece, consisting of a round cup lavishly embellished with a large bronze bow, palm leaves, and two angel heads on either side from which rings hang. The lid of the cup is adorned with a delicate flame-shaped detail. All this ornamentation only serves to enhance the aesthetic value of this magnificent bronze timepiece-a true find for lovers of the most exclusive antiques.
