Magnificent French Clock in Bronze and Tortoiseshell. Circa 1870, Working

Stunning French table clock, very old and of great aesthetic and material value. This is a clock brimming with elegance and style, crafted circa 1870 from exclusive materials such as bronze and tortoiseshell. This piece displays a beautiful modernist-inspired style, with a slightly asymmetrical aesthetic in the scrollwork that forms its edges, finials, and legs. The combination of the light golden sheen of the bronze and the dark red color of the tortoiseshell is very attractive, creating a contrast that considerably enhances the beauty of the design.

The metal structure is, as mentioned, made of gilded bronze and consists of graceful volutes that interlock to form a sort of box or "cage," with tortoiseshell-inlaid wooden panels fitted to its sides and front. The clock has a very elegant silhouette, with its lower section narrower than the upper one and resting on four bronze legs. Its central section is occupied by a large white porcelain dial, with black Roman numerals in their respective positions, and smaller numerals surrounding the dial to indicate the minutes. The dial is protected by glass and is in excellent condition.

On the back of the clock, the wooden case features a removable cover that provides access to the movement. Inside, we can see a substantial pendulum, on whose bob the serial number 44559 is engraved. Below this number is an inscription: 8 (or S) ts. S.G.O. Furthermore, on the mechanism itself, we can see another number engraved on the metal-in this case, 8588. The clock retains its original key for winding the mechanism and has been adjusted to function perfectly.

This exquisite clock from the Napoleonic III era is a unique piece due to its beautiful design, the delicacy of the materials used in its construction, and its excellent working condition.
