Attractive Table Clock with Wall Bracket. France, 1930s. In working condition

This fantastic and decorative table clock is a very special piece, as it comes with a matching bracket designed to be mounted on the wall to display the clock in the best possible way. This French set was made in the 1930s, featuring an eight-day Paris movement with hour and half-hour chimes; it is in very good condition and in perfect working order. The mechanism has been carefully cleaned and adjusted, and today the clock runs flawlessly. Its exterior also looks magnificent, making it a beautiful decorative piece of excellent quality.

Both the bracket and the clock are made of solid wood and bronze. The console features a top panel with milled edges and a lower bronze section, beautifully carved with a mask depicting a child's head surrounded by a series of garlands and drapery, arranged symmetrically. It is a very Baroque decoration, full of charm and beauty. The clock features a similar style, with the wood stained the same color as the bracket's top panel: a striking and unusual deep red hue-rare and highly original-that allows the wood's attractive grain to shine through thanks to its translucency.

The red stain on both pieces is protected by a satin finish, which has been restored to reveal the piece in all its splendor. The clock is also decorated with a series of bronze appliqués on its front and top. The appliqués, which match the base of the console, feature a medallion at the top crowned by a detail depicting two symmetrically arranged birds. The rest of the piece is adorned with delicate volutes and plant-inspired motifs, all crafted from carved bronze. The movement is signed with the inscription "A LA GERBE D'OR - A.DEFIS - 86 RUE DE RIVOLI," beneath which a sun with a face is depicted. Engraved above it is the serial number 8572. The movement is a Vincentti & Cie, winner of a silver medal in 1855.

The beauty of this clock and bracket set, as well as its smooth operation, make it a perfect piece to stand out on the wall of an aristocratic parlor.
