Stunning Wood and Gilded Bronze Table Clock. Germany, 19th Century. In Working Order

This magnificent table clock is a collector's item with great decorative appeal that also functions perfectly. It was manufactured in Germany in the 19th century. The clock is made of solid walnut with decorative gilded bronze accents. Although there are signs of old woodworm damage on the wood, the clock has been thoroughly treated and completely restored, and is now in perfect condition. Its mechanism has also been serviced and runs flawlessly.

The clock features an architecturally inspired design, with a simple, solid wooden case rising from a molded base. The top is crowned by an elegant semicircular finial, featuring a carved central motif and small gilded bronze rosettes. The charming cherubs flanking the dial are made of the same metal: the two small sculptures depict two nude children seated on short columns. These figures, full of beauty and innocence, complement the other bronze details surrounding the dial.

On both sides of the case are masks, also in gilded bronze, depicting classical female faces. The ensemble is highly decorative and displays unparalleled richness, with the design highlighting the beautiful contrast between the dark, noble wood and the luminous metal. The clock's dial is also metallic and features black Roman numerals, adorned with a profusion of reliefs. On the back of the clock is a panel that closes the case and conceals a mechanism in magnificent condition.

This stunning, classically inspired antique clock is destined to be the centerpiece of the most stylish living room.
