Large antique globe manufactured in Germany in 1900 and in good condition. This large piece (measuring 60 cm in height) is an object of great beauty and interest due to its age and imposing presence. The globe retains its original covering in good condition; it is complete, and all the maps are perfectly visible. It depicts the continents as they were divided at the beginning of the 20th century: we can see nations and kingdoms that no longer exist, borders that have disappeared, and places belonging to the past. The names of the countries and regions are in German; the globe also features the most important cities of each nation. Additionally, at the top there is a legend with the items name in German (ERDGLOBUS), its diameter, and the manufacturers name: OTTO HERKT.

The globe is printed in full color, with the nations depicted in shades of green, red, yellow, blue, etc. The names are printed in black and gray. The globes surface also shows parallels and meridians, while the brass arc supporting it features an engraved scale. The cartography notably includes colonies such as French Africa and British India. The defunct Austro-Hungarian Empire is also marked; Greece appears as part of Turkey, and Poland does not exist as a separate entity but is instead part of Russia. The surface shows some variations in tone and signs of aging, but these details only add to its charm and authenticity, without detracting in any way from the enjoyment of the maps.

The globe is mounted on a solid beech wood stand, turned and stained a beautiful walnut color. It is coated with a protective clear varnish that gives it a warm satin sheen. The arch supporting the globe is made of gilded brass and is in very good condition, polished and shiny. At the base of the stand, there is a hole into which a small compass is fitted, and another compartment with a translucent lid that holds a measuring tape intended for topographic surveying and scale calculations.
