A beautiful antique atlas with 19 maps by Johann Walch, published in Augsburg (Germany) in 1803. Walch was a cartographer and map publisher who lived and worked between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was married to the daughter of the famous German publisher Johann Martin Will, whom he succeeded in 1806. The atlas shown in the images is complete and in very good condition, allowing readers to enjoy the wonderful cartographic representations of various regions and countries.

The maps are printed in black and color ink on white paper and show virtually no discoloration, defects, or stains, making this a fantastic collection that captures all the charm of early 19th-century atlases. The atlas contains maps of the worlds continents and seas, as well as specific depictions of countries and regions. All of these are listed in a handwritten index. Each map bears the inscription Zu finden bey Joh. Walch in Augsburg at the bottom, certifying the authorship of the renowned German cartographer. The maps also feature the names of the areas depicted, written in large lowercase cursive script.

The maps are meticulously annotated, with the most important cities and geographical features labeled in German. In addition to the black ink used for the outlines and inscriptions, the engravings also feature areas of pink, yellow, green, blue, and red. The pages are bound in a hand-sewn cardboard cover, lined with antique orange-colored watermark paper. It is slightly deteriorated due to the passage of time and use, but it has perfectly fulfilled its protective function, and today all the maps are preserved in magnificent condition.
