Antique Adolf Mang Globe. Germany, circa 1920

Antique Adolf Mang globe manufactured in Germany circa 1920, original to the period and well-preserved. This item was manufactured by the company of Adolf Mang (18491933), a science teacher in Heidelberg, writer, and manufacturer and designer of globes. Adolf Mangs globes achieved great popularity and prestige in the first half of the 20th century due to their superb craftsmanship and beautiful designs. The one shown in the images is mounted on a solid beech wood stand with a walnut finish; it is well-preserved and shows some signs of wear from use. The globe also shows the expected scuffs from use, which do not detract from its aesthetic appeal and instead lend it authenticity and charm. The globe is attached to the stand via a brass bracket featuring a graduated scale that indicates the northern and southern latitudes of various points on the globe. At the base, we can see a compass embedded in the wood, which is also original and in working condition.

As authentic as it is decorative, this antique Adolf Mang globe will make a striking addition to any collection or room thanks to its beauty and style.
