France. Order of Merit. Plaque. The cross is supported by a base formed by eight silver-colored rays surrounding the decoration itself. It consists of a circular piece with the profile of a woman engraved inside, surrounded by a field of azure bearing the inscription LE MÉRITE and two laurel branches. The circle is surrounded by five red-and-white enameled spokes, connected by sprigs of laurel leaves.
