Beautiful medal in its original case, accompanied by its corresponding miniature. This is the Order of Merit of the Red Cross for Ladies, awarded in Japan. The medal is made of solid silver and is in very good condition. The decoration, consisting of the cross and miniature, features a Greek cross formed by clusters of three white-enameled petals outlined in silver. In the center is a blue circle with an engraving depicting a dove, two laurel branches, and a small red-enameled cross at the bottom. The reverse side features an inscription in Japanese on blue enamel, surrounded by a gold border. The miniature, meanwhile, bears the same cross enameled in white, but in this case the central circle is also white and features a single red cross in the center. The case in which the insignia is preserved is the original, lined with black leather and bearing an inscription in Japanese on the lid.
