Binocular microscope from the 1950s-1960s with an electric light source, in very good condition and in working order. This device is a high-quality, precision instrument manufactured by the prestigious firm Leitz Wetzlar and has come down to us in excellent condition. The microscope is made of black enameled metal; the surface finish is smooth and glossy, and the instrument is both attractive and functional. As mentioned, it comes with an electric flashlight designed to illuminate specimens from beneath the stage. This unit features the original transformer and works perfectly.

Leitz microscopes are renowned for their precision and outstanding performance. The origins of the Leitz company date back to 1849, when Karl Kellner founded the Optical Institute of Wetzlar (Germany), with the primary goal of manufacturing telescopes. Within a few years, the production of microscopes and components grew to the point where it overshadowed the company's other products. In 1865, Ernst Leitz joined the company, and in 1869 he took control of the firm, which was renamed the Ernst Leitz Optical Institute. The company name is engraved on several parts of the microscope: on the eyepiece holder, beneath the specimen stage, and on the information plate screwed to the torch transformer.

The microscope features a four-lens revolver, each lens marked with the brand name and the magnification number engraved on the metal. Both the eyepiece assembly and the revolver can be removed for storage and transport of the instrument. The light source has a black iron body with a hammered finish, and the electrical connections and cables are in very good condition. The accompanying transformer features a metal plate with information on the voltage, the manufacturer's name and origin (Leitz, Wetzlar), and the device's serial number: 50056.
