This attractive item is an original Seibert microscope, manufactured in Germany in the early 20th century (between 1910 and 1920). The microscope is in very good condition and comes with its original wooden case, which also holds several accessories and an instruction manual in German. The microscope has an enameled iron body with a bird-claw or horseshoe-shaped base, and components made of gilded brass and chrome-plated metal. Both metals are in excellent condition, with no traces of rust. The brass also retains its original clear lacquer finish. On the part that supports the microscope's tower, we can see the inscription "Seibert in Wetzlar" engraved, along with the serial number 14677.

The manufacturing company was founded in 1867 by the brothers Wilhelm and Heinrich Seibert. The firm went through many changes and was based in Berlin, but eventually settled in Wetzlar. The Seibert brothers were partners with George Krafft until the early 20th century. In 1917, the company's manufacturing problems led it to begin collaborating with the powerful Ernst Leitz. After the death of the younger of the Seibert brothers in 1925, his son Wilhelm took over the company. Wilhelm died in 1931, and in 1928, Leitz definitively took control.

Seibert microscopes, such as the one shown in the images, are characterized by their meticulous craftsmanship and precision. This item is a fine example of the quality of their products. It features a three-lens revolver and comes with an extra eyepiece, as well as several brass and metal cases for storing the various accessories. The microscope case is made of solid mahogany; inside, it contains two holders for the parts and a drawer. It has the original lock and key, as well as the metal handle. The wood is in good condition and retains its original protective varnish.
