Magnificent Leitz Microscope Manufactured in Germany in 1926. In Perfect Working Order

This beautiful vintage microscope is a true museum-quality piece manufactured in Germany in 1926. It is a Leitz microscope, a brand that throughout the 20th century has been synonymous with prestige and quality in the field of optical equipment manufacturing. The microscope is in very good condition and works perfectly. It comes in its original solid wood case and is accompanied by several lenses in their brass sleeves, as well as an extra eyepiece. Overall, this item is a fantastic piece that is nearly a hundred years old, 100% original, and worthy of the finest collection.

Engraved on the microscope's column are the manufacturer's name, Ernst Leitz, and the name of the German town where the factory was located (Wetzlar). The instrument's serial number is also listed: No. 249435. Ernst Leitz was a German engineer who, in the late 19th century, began working at Karl Kellner's Optical Institute, located in Wetzlar. In just two years, Leitz took over the company and renamed it after himself. Along with Zeiss Jena, Leitz Wetzlar was one of the two most renowned and prestigious manufacturers of optical equipment in Europe for much of the 20th century. Today, the Leitz company remains in operation, although it has been split into several branches belonging to different groups.

The microscope features a black-enameled iron base, of the type known as a "bird's foot" base. The gold-plated brass parts are very well preserved, and the clear protective finish coating them is the original. The screws and moving parts operate smoothly and effortlessly, providing optimal performance for the user. The lenses and eyepieces are also stamped with the company's name. As for the case, it is made of solid beech wood with a mahogany-colored exterior finish. The joints are dovetail-style, beautiful and sturdy, and the handle, lock, and key (which works) are all original.
