German Leitz Wetzlar Microscope Manufactured in 1923. Well-Preserved and in Perfect Working Order

Attractive antique microscope from 1923, manufactured in Germany by the firm Leitz Wetzlar. It is a high-quality, precision scientific research instrument, well-preserved and in perfect working order. The microscope features an enameled iron "bird's foot" base with a polished, glossy black finish. The upper section consists of various components made of gilded brass and silver-plated metal, all of which are original to the period and in excellent working condition. The microscope features a three-lens revolver, and the brass used in some parts-such as the turret and the screws-retains its original clear protective lacquer. It does not come with a carrying case.

The manufacturer's name, "Leitz Wetzlar," is engraved on the turret and the lenses. The company's origins date back to the late 19th century, when Karl Kellner founded the Optical Institute of Wetzlar, Germany. Ernst Leitz joined the business and, within a few years, took control of the firm, renaming it the Ernst Leitz Optical Institute. Over time, the company became known as Leitz Wetzlar; in addition to its famous microscopes, it also became renowned for producing Leica cameras (the name Leica is a combination of the words Leitz and Camera).

This microscope is a high-quality, precision instrument, worthy of the most demanding scientist and any serious collector. On the tower of the instrument, below the manufacturer's name, we can see the microscope's serial number: 214619. All parts are in excellent condition, so this instrument can still be used to view slides and specimens.
