Original Seibert Wetzlar Microscope Manufactured in Germany in the 1920s. In Working Order and with Original Case

Fantastic original German microscope from the 1920s, manufactured by Seibert Wetzlar and in its original wooden case. This is a high-quality microscope that has come down to us in very good condition and is in perfect working order. The instrument, with its understated and attractive design, comes with three eyepieces arranged on their corresponding wooden stand. The case in which the microscope and its accessories are stored is also made of solid wood, and it is largely responsible for the fact that this beautiful instrument has survived to the present day in good condition.

The Seibert Wetzlar company began its journey in Berlin in 1867, when the Seibert brothers, Wilhelm and Heinrich, started manufacturing microscopes. Later, they established their factory in Wetzlar, the same town where Ernst Leitz's famous optical equipment company was also located. Dr. Robert Koch, the discoverer of the tuberculosis bacillus, used a Seibert microscope equipped with a modified camera to take photographs of bacteria. However, that was a much older design than the one shown in these images; its evolved design allows it to deliver excellent performance today.

The microscope features the classic black-enameled iron base and gold-plated brass moving parts, protected by the original clear lacquer. It features a three-lens revolver, and on the turret we can see the name and logo of the manufacturer, W & H SEIBERT WETLZAR, as well as the instrument's serial number: 248937. The case in which the microscope is stored is made of solid, light-colored beech wood, constructed from several boards with the grain running in different directions, creating an attractive pattern. The case features dovetail joints and retains the original lock and key, both of which are in working order.
