Antique Henry Crouch Microscope in Original Case. England, Circa 1910. In Good Condition

This beautiful early 20th-century instrument is a Henry Crouch microscope, manufactured in London, England, circa 1910. It is an original instrument, with all its parts and components in excellent condition. The microscope comes in its original solid wood case and is accompanied by several accessories for handling it. Despite being about a century old, this item is very well preserved and is in working condition. The microscope rests on a black-enameled wrought-iron stand, whose design with a curved front is known as an "English stand" or "Crouch stand." Engraved on this piece are the manufacturer's name, city, and serial number: HENRY CROUCH - LONDON - 9232.

Henry Crouch (1811-1881) was a famous English microscope manufacturer whose participation in the Centennial Exposition held in Philadelphia, USA, in 1876 marked a turning point in his career. Thanks to the impressive display Crouch presented at his booth, he was able to begin marketing his microscopes in the United States and became one of the most sought-after British manufacturers in the country.

On one of the lenses attached to the revolver, we can see the inscription HENRY CROUCH - LONDON - No. 45081. The manufacturer's name also appears on the brass cases designed to protect these parts, along with the inscription "S. MAW, SON & THOMPSON - AGENTS." This inscription is also engraved on the specimen stage. The microscope, as mentioned, comes in a beautiful case made of solid mahogany, inside which we also find two boxes with sliding lids designed to hold the lenses and eyepieces, as well as a slotted wooden piece for the slides and a packet of white paper with the handwritten inscription "1 DOZEN SLIDES."

As complete as it is beautiful, this antique microscope is a collector's item in perfect working order.
