Antique Carl Zeiss Microscope in Good Condition and in Working Order. Germany, 1920s.

Magnificent original antique microscope from the 1920s, manufactured by the prestigious company founded in Germany by Carl Zeiss in the first half of the 19th century. Not only is the microscope in very good condition, but it also works and comes in its original solid wood case. It includes extra eyepieces and lens caps and is signed in several places. The microscope can be used to view specimens, and all of its components and parts are original from that era. On the turret, we can see the company name (CARL ZEISS) and the city where it was located (JENA) engraved in brass above the serial number Nr. 86388.

Carl Zeiss was a manufacturer of optical elements and instruments born in Germany in 1816, best known for the factory he founded under the name Carl Zeiss Jena. The company still exists as Carl Zeiss AG and is dedicated to the manufacture of microscopes and binoculars. The Zeiss name is associated with major advances and discoveries. The inventor reached the height of his fame in the 1840s, when he launched a series of high-quality lenses that provided exceptional clarity and brilliance of vision. Zeiss passed away in 1883, but the company continued its legacy throughout the 20th century and into the present day.

This attractive microscope features a design characteristic of instruments from the first half of the 20th century. It has a bird-claw foot (also known as a horseshoe or bird's foot) made of iron, finished in black lacquer and in excellent condition. The moving parts and components are made of brass and are in good condition, retaining their original clear varnish. The four-lens revolver holds two objectives, each signed with the manufacturer's name and its corresponding serial number. The case, meanwhile, is made of solid light-colored wood with dovetail joints. It retains the original metal handle, as well as the lock and key, both of which are in working order.

This fantastic Carl Zeiss Jena microscope is sure to occupy an important place in a fine collection of early 20th-century scientific instruments.
