This beautiful microscope, of high quality and attractive design, is an instrument for scientific research manufactured in Germany in 1929. The manufacturer's name is engraved on several parts of the device: it is the prestigious Ernst Leitz of Wetzlar. The microscope is very well preserved, with the black enamel covering the base in excellent condition and the brass also in good condition. The brass parts retain the original clear varnish that protects the metal. Furthermore, this beautiful piece comes in its original solid wood case, which even retains its original key.

As mentioned, the microscope's tower is engraved with the inscription "ERNST LEITZ - WETZLAR" and the serial number 26127. The manufacturer's name also appears on the lenses, the eyepiece, and the base of the instrument, at the point where the base supports the tower.

The name Ernst Leitz is associated with the Optical Institute of Wetzlar, founded by Karl Kellner in 1849. Leitz joined the company as an engineer in 1865 and, within four years, became the owner of the firm, renaming it to include his own name. Within a few years, the factory's reputation grew until it became a world leader in the manufacture of instruments and lenses. Leitz passed away in 1920, but the company continued under the leadership of his son, E. Leitz II. Today, the company is divided into four divisions.

The microscope shown in the photos is in good working order and retains all of its original parts and components. It features a two-lens revolver and interchangeable objectives, all of which are signed by Leitz. The case in which the instrument is stored is made of solid light golden-colored wood; it is attractive and well-preserved. It features fine dovetail joints and retains the original silver-plated metal handle, as well as a functional lock and key. Inside, there is a wooden rack for organizing the lenses and eyepieces, as well as a paper label bearing the manufacturer's name and a handwritten date: 12/5/1929.
