Magnificent microscope manufactured in Vienna in the early 20th century, specifically in 1916. This is a scientific research instrument made by C. Reichert, which also comes in its original solid wood case. The microscope is well-preserved and in working order, and comes with accessories and supplies for use. It features a three-lens revolver and a black-enameled iron base, with moving parts made of gilded brass and chrome-plated metal. The brass retains its original transparent protective varnish, and overall the finishes are in very good condition.

The inscription "C. Reichert" engraved in various places on this item refers to Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Reichert, a microscope manufacturer born in Württemberg (Germany) in 1851 and who died in 1922. Reichert began his career working at various companies, including Siemens in Berlin. He traveled to different German cities, eventually collaborating with Leitz Wetzlar. In 1876, Reichert founded his own company, through which he produced a versatile and efficient modular microscope. He was the inventor of the DIC system, also known as Nomansky Illumination.

This particular microscope is a fine example of the quality and functionality of Reichert instruments. In addition to being a practical instrument, its design is very beautiful and elegant. On the back of the base, we can see the inscription "C. REICHERT WIEN" engraved, along with the serial number No. 54833. The manufacturer's name is also engraved on two of the lenses and on the front of the revolver. As mentioned, the microscope comes in a solid mahogany case crafted with fine dovetail joints. The case contains a wooden tray designed to hold the lenses and eyepieces, as well as a box for storing some accessories and a small bottle of concentrated cedar oil. It retains its original lock and key.

Fully functional and very attractive, this Reichert microscope is a fantastic testament to the quality of early 20th-century scientific instruments.
