Antique Telescopic Light Concentrator for Microscopes in Excellent Condition. 19th Century

This elegant device is a light concentrator, an antique instrument used to illuminate specimens for viewing under microscopes. Light concentrators were essential in the days when microscopes did not have built-in lighting systems, allowing users to comfortably examine specimens. The instrument shown in the photos is telescopic, allowing for height adjustment, and features a convex lens that concentrates light onto the specimen. The light beam can be directed toward the specimen or slide, or positioned so that it reflects off the microscope's mirror and is then directed toward the object to be observed. If the user needs to widen the light beam to cover a larger area (such as the microscope's lower mirror), they should position the flat side of the lens toward the microscope. Conversely, when a narrow beam of light needs to be directed directly at the specimen, the lens must be rotated so that its convex side faces the object, with the flat side facing the light source.
