Magnificent antique microscope crafted from brass and chrome-plated metal, with an enameled base and in its original wooden case. It is a scientific research instrument manufactured in Germany in the early 20th century (1919). The microscope stands out for its beautiful design and impressive condition: the metal is polished with hardly any signs of wear; the enamel finish is smooth and glossy; and the screws and moving parts operate smoothly. Furthermore, it functions perfectly and retains all of its original components.

The following inscription is engraved on the microscope's turret: E. Leitz Wetzlar - No. 179240. This corresponds to the manufacturer's name and the microscope's serial number. The company began operations in 1849, when it was founded by Carl Kellner in the city of Wetzlar, Germany, under the name Wetzlar Optical Institute. The company later hired engineer Ernst Leitz, who took control of the business in 1869 and renamed it to include his own name. The company quickly became one of the world's leading manufacturers of optical equipment, microscopes, and cameras.

This beautiful microscope attests to the quality of Leitz products. The upper section, consisting of a brass tower supporting a three-lens revolver, rises from the black-lacquered, horseshoe-shaped iron base (also known as a "bird-claw foot"). The three objectives are engraved with the company name and magnification number, and each comes with its own protective brass cap. The entire set is stored in a solid wood case, with a beautiful light color and the original lock and key in perfect working order.
