Antique Pair of Infantry Officers Epaulets from the Reign of Alfonso XIII, 18851931

Antique pair of infantry officers epaulets, also known as shoulder boards or dragonas, of great beauty and in excellent condition. The epaulets are Spanish and date from the era of Alfonso XIII (18851931). They are a military insignia worn on the shoulders of the uniform, featuring a series of distinctive markings that also serve as decorations. The ones shown in the photographs are made of gilded metal and lined on the inside with a salmon-colored fabric. Attached to the fabric are two hinged brass plates with a clasp, which are used to fasten the epaulets to the uniform. The visible surface of both epaulets is gilded across its entire surface; as decorations and insignia, they bear the acronym of King Alfonso XIII (A XIII)an A with scrollwork and the Roman numeral XIII beneath it. Above, the royal crownalso made of metaland on the sides, decorative gold leaves at the ends of the epaulet and a gold button at the other end.
