Antique French Fire Officers Helmet from the City of Cheffes. France, 1890

Fantastic antique fire officers helmet, manufactured in France in 1890 and magnificently preserved. The helmet belonged to a member of the Cheffes City Fire Department and stands out for its shiny, polished appearanceremarkable for such an old piece. It is made of chrome-plated metal: the surface is smooth and shows no signs of rust or deterioration. On the front, the helmet features a brass appliqué with a crest depicting a burning fire engine. Above the shield, we can see a wall with four towers and a band bearing the inscription SAPEURS POMPIERS DE CHEFFES (Cheffes Fire Department). Above the band, the chrome-plated metal features a raised motif depicting the same flaming fire engine that appears on the shield. The helmet retains the leather strap that was used to secure it firmly to the firefighters headthough it is brokenas well as the inner lining that allows for comfortable wear.

Its striking appearance and excellent condition make this antique French fire officers helmet a unique piece, worthy of the finest collection of special antiques.
