Antique German Firefighter's Helmet. Germany, Late 19th Century
Superb antique German firefighter's helmet from the city of Nassau, very well preserved, manufactured in the late 19th century, and complete. Despite being over a hundred years old, the helmet retains all its original parts and components. It is lined entirely with black leather; the lining remains intact, with no tears and hardly any signs of wear except for a few specific spots on the strap (barely noticeable). The helmet also retains its interior, made of brown leather and metal wiring. The interior is also in very good condition, especially considering that it is over a century old. On the front, we can see the coat of arms of the Nassau (Germany) fire department, featuring a rampant lion on the left and crossed arms behind a helmet on the right. The coat of arms is made of silver-plated metal, and the year 1872 is embossed on it. It is flanked by oak leaves with acorns on both sides, also made of metal. The helmet features two gold medallions on either side, which secure the strap designed to fasten under the chin. It also retains its original buckle.
This antique German firefighters helmet from the late 19th century will stand out in any self-respecting antique collection.
