An attractive set of 25 stereoscopic glass plates, taken in the early 20th century in various countries. The plates are hand-labeled in French with the names of the cities and countries they depict: Constantinople, Beirut, Syria, and Turkey. The images, in black and white and sepia tones, depict cityscapes, evocative landscapes, and moments of daily life among their inhabitants. The latter stand out for the charming traditional atmosphere they convey and the authenticity of the scenes. The plates are in very good condition and can be clearly viewed with the aid of a stereoscopic viewer.
