Fantastic lot of 61 original stereoscopic plates developed on glass from the early 20th century (circa 1900). The plates are in good condition despite their fragility, and can still be viewed today using a suitable stereoscopic viewer. The black-and-white images depict familiar scenes taken in Switzerland, likely during a trip or vacation. They feature stunning Alpine landscapes, large lakes, boats, picturesque towns and villages, and Alpine roads Many of them show people posing in front of iconic landmarks: men, women, and children, either alone or in groups. Some plates bear handwritten notes indicating the photographs number or the location photographed. The plates are presented in four collections, each in its own beautiful original cardboard box with original period labels.

Evocative and unique, these photographic plates constitute a magnificent and captivating testament to the passage of time.
