Extremely Rare Collection of 50 Photographs of Scenes from Spain on Stereoscopic Slides. 1910-1920

An extremely rare collection of fifty photographs depicting scenes and atmospheres from various locations in Spain, particularly in the south and the Levante region. The images were taken between 1910 and 1920 by a French tourist who was traveling through the country, and are mounted on 107 x 45 mm stereoscopic glass plates. In addition to their undeniable charm and beautiful craftsmanship, these images serve as a direct testament to the customs and traditions of many places in Spain in the early 20th century, which lends them great value.

The images depict various landscapes and monuments from several locations, primarily in Andalusia and along the Levantine coast: Seville, Murcia, Elche, Cádiz, Benidor... But, interestingly, the collection also includes two glass plates with images of San Sebastián. The photographs are sepia-toned, and each one is carefully hand-labeled with the word "Espagne" (Spain) followed by the name of the town in French.

The undeniable charm of these images stems largely from the traditional character of the scenes they depict, where we can see the enormous changes that the landscapes, people, styles of dress, and ways of life, among other things, have undergone in our country over the course of an entire century. The collection of photographs comes in its original storage and transport case, crafted from unvarnished solid wood, featuring metal latches and a metal handle on one side.
