Extremely Rare Solid Silver Pocket Watch, Made in Zaragoza Circa 1870. Signed and in Working Order

This watch is a true rarity, a collector's item made in Zaragoza in the late 19th century (circa 1870). Its great beauty is complemented by its excellent condition and optimal functioning. The movement has been serviced and adjusted, and the watch is signed and hallmarked on the inside. The front cover features an unengraved coat of arms in the center, intended to hold the watch owner's initials or perhaps a dedication. Beneath it, the attractive metal dial is lavishly adorned with gold accents and floral motifs engraved in the center, where the hands are positioned. It features Roman numerals and a seconds hand.

If we lift the back cover, we'll see the serial number 32876 engraved inside, along with a hallmark bearing the letters PD. There is another hallmark with the word "ARGENT," which certifies that the watch is made of silver. It is precisely when we lift this caseback that we can see the beautiful dust cover protecting the movement: a piece carved with volutes and bearing a series of inscriptions in different typefaces, all of them classic and beautifully engraved. The inscription reads: MADE BY MARIANO LUÑO - ZARAGOZA - ANCHOR ESCAPEMENT - 15 RUBIES.

This cover also features two holes for inserting the original key: one is used to wind the watch, and the other is for setting the time. Both the key and the chain are original to the period. Lifting the dust cover reveals the watch's movement, which is also signed with the inscription "MADE BY MARIANO LUÑO." Yet another detail that lends authenticity and charm to this fantastic antique watch.
