Valuable Swiss Solid Gold Pocket Watch, ca. 1860. Decorated with Engravings. Hallmarked

Exclusive Swiss pocket watch, crafted from top-quality solid gold around the year 1860. All covers, including the dust cover, are made of gold. This watch is magnificently preserved and, in addition to functioning perfectly, is a very special piece due to the engraved decoration that adorns its entire exterior. The piece bears a hallmark on the link connecting the ring and the crown to the case, which guarantees the quality of the precious metal from which it is made. The front cover of the watch features a smooth, unengraved coat of arms in the center, intended to bear the owner's initials, while the back displays a fine engraving depicting a vase-like form surrounded by grapes and vine leaves. Both motifs are inscribed within mandorlas framed by classical borders, while the rest of the surface is lavishly decorated with delicate, plant-inspired reliefs.

The watch face is white with Arabic numerals and delicate gold hands featuring openwork and filigree details. Surrounding the dial is the characteristic ring where the minutes are marked in smaller numerals. At the bottom is a seconds sub-dial with its corresponding hand. The dial is in perfect condition, with no hairline cracks or defects in the glass. When we turn the watch over and open it, we can see the dust cover, which features a series of elegant inscriptions engraved in different typefaces. The word ANCRE describes a type of Swiss movement characteristic of late 19th-century watches. BALANCIER COMPENSE indicates that the watch features a mechanism to compensate for temperature-induced expansion. The inscriptions also indicate that the movement features 16 jewels and a Breguet-style balance spring, while "CHATON" refers to a type of gemstone setting in the metal.

On the dust cover, we can also see the watch's serial number: 69958. If we lift this dust cover and examine the movement, we will find it in optimal condition and can observe the various rubies that form part of the delicate mechanism. Notable among these are two small levers, each finely engraved with the words "AVANCE" and "RETARD." The entire watch is perfectly preserved, having been serviced and adjusted to ensure proper functioning. The elegance and material value of this fine antique make it the ultimate gift: this watch is a luxury item for those who appreciate true beauty.
