Attractive Philips radio, model 834-A, manufactured in 1933 in the typical style of the era. It operates on 220 V. This is a charming vintage "ham can" style radio, which is in good condition and works perfectly, delivering excellent sound quality. All parts of the radio are original, including the golden ochre fabric covering the speaker. Philips is one of the world's most prestigious electronics brands; it was founded in Eindhoven (Netherlands) in 1891 by Gerard Philips with the aim of "manufacturing incandescent lamps and other electrical products."

This elegant radio is made of sheet metal, which has been painted to effectively mimic a wood finish-specifically, burl wood. The radio is reddish-brown with darker streaks and shading, and the original material from which it is made, combined with its unique shape, results in a distinctive and very attractive piece. The casing is triangular in shape, with rounded edges, and rests on a black-painted wooden base. On the front, we can see the circular opening for the speaker-through which the radio's sound emanates-which is crisscrossed by five slightly angled vertical spokes. Below the speaker is the dial, flanked by two black Bakelite knobs.

The back of the radio is a plywood panel that can be removed to access the vacuum tubes. Printed on this panel are several blank diagrams showing the device's connection options. If we remove the screws securing the back panel to the housing, we gain access to the internal mechanism, which features all the original parts and vacuum tubes. The valves bear labels with the letters "Ph.," indicating that they are authentic Philips parts. A metal plate is affixed beneath the mechanism, indicating the radio's model (834A) and serial number (1197F). The radio supports longwave and mediumwave, though it does not tune to FM. It works perfectly and does not require a transformer. Without a doubt, it is a beautiful vintage piece that will serve as the perfect accent for the decor of a very special living room.
