Antique Spanish Artillery Officers Sword. Model 1862. Spain, 1873

Beautiful antique Spanish artillery officers sword, Model 1862. This spectacular sword was manufactured in Spain in 1873 and has come down to us in the magnificent condition shown in the photographs. The sword comes with its original steel scabbard, smooth and shiny. The blade, also made of steel, is engraved with decorative motifs and bears the inscription FÁBRICA DE TOLEDO 1873, which allows us to identify and date the piece with certainty. But while the blade is beautiful, so too is the swords elegant hilt. Crafted from brass, the pommel features the symbol of the artillery corps (two crossed cannons with the royal crown above them) engraved in relief. The crossguard connecting the pommel to the pommel knob is engraved with a floral motif that extends down the grip. It retains the sandpaper and the cord that holds it in place.
