Antique Spanish Pocket Knife from Albacete. 49 cm. Spain. 19th century

Antique Spanish pocket knife from Albacete, 49 cm long, made in the 19th century. The size of the knife when opened is striking, as is its sleek design. The blade is long and narrow, of the clip point type. It is decorated with fine engraving, which is quite worn from age and use but still visible. The handle features antler and brass scales; the antler is dark brown and contrasts beautifully with the gilt metal. The tip is brass-plated, decorated with fine parallel lines and a cross pattern engraved into the metal. Albacete pocket knives have been famous for centuries for their quality and large size. Their origins date back to the Muslim era, with the first written references appearing in the 16th century. To this day, they remain highly prized by experts and collectors.
