Antique Artillery Machete, Model 1816. France, circa 1835

Fascinating Model 1816 infantry artillery machete, manufactured in France circa 1835 and in excellent condition. This is an antique model that was used during the period known as the July Monarchy, which took place in France between 1830 and 1848. It has been possible to date the machete thanks to the rooster engraved on both sides of the pommel. As a point of interest, it is worth noting that this machete model was also used in the American Civil War. The hilt of this weapon is made of brass, with the surface of the grip moulded in rows of scales. The pommel, as mentioned, features two rooster silhouettes that identify the period, and the crossguard is straight and topped with circles. The steel blade, smooth and very well-preserved, is protected by the original leather sheath, which also retains the brass chape and throat.

This antique Model 1816 infantry artillery machete is a unique and attractive piece, worthy of the finest collection.
