Rare Argentine Model 1909 Machete. Argentina, circa 1910.
Rare Argentine Model 1909 machete, manufactured in Germany circa 1910 for the Argentine army in the early 20th century. This weapon has over a hundred years of history but is preserved in excellent condition, looking almost like new. On the crossguard of the machete, we can see the hand-engraved serial number F01177, which also appears (in identical handwriting) on the metal throat of the sheath. This means that both pieces were manufactured at the same time and have remained together from the beginning, for over a century. On the machetes blade, right next to the crossguard, there is an engraved motif featuring a logo crowned with laurel branches and the inscription MODELO ARGENTINO 1909. The motif is in excellent condition, clearly defined and legible. The blade is flawless, with no nicks or signs of rust or wear; the same can be said of the handle, with dark wooden grip scales in excellent condition. The steel and leather sheath is also perfectly preserved; on the brown leather strap used to hang the machete from the belt, we can see a circular stamp with the letters ABC.
This spectacular and rare 1909 Argentine Model machete is a true collectors item, both for its age and its excellent condition.
