The Stoewer company was founded in Germany in 1858 by Bernhard Stoewer to manufacture sewing machines. Between 1893 and 1806, the factory expanded its product range to include the manufacture of bicycles, typewriters, cars, trucks, and buses. Production was divided into two branches: one for the automotive industry and the other for household appliances and bicycles. The first Stoewer typewriter was designed by Paul Grützman in 1903. The company remained in operation until 1945, when it ceased to exist after being dismantled by the East German government.
This typewriter is the Stoewer Record model, one of the company's most popular models. The machine's logos and names are in very good condition-complete and featuring vivid, intense colors. On the carriage, the company name appears in large white letters, while above the keyboard is the model name, "Stoewer Record," flanked by sets of four medallions. The keyboard, featuring circular white keys with black letters, is in magnificent condition. On the back of the machine, there is a silver-plated metal plate bearing the serial number 80 875.
Vintage, decorative, and functional, this Stoewer Record typewriter will be a standout feature in even the most elegant office or living room.
