This beautiful wall clock, intended to take pride of place in an elegant living room, comes from Germany and was manufactured in the late 19th century. Despite its great age (over a hundred years), the clock is in very good condition. Its movement, bearing the hallmark of the prestigious Kienzle brand, has been adjusted and cleaned so that the clock runs as smoothly as it did on the first day, striking the hours and half-hours. The case design reflects the neoclassical aesthetic prevalent at the time, with an attractive combination of woods that makes this clock a uniquely decorative piece.

The clock's movement bears the Kienzle logo engraved on the metal: a winged wheel. Kienzle is one of Germany's oldest watch brands; it was founded in Schwenningen in 1822 under the guidance of the Schlenker family, though it acquired its final name (originally Schlenker & Kienzle) when Jakob Kienzle joined the family, contributing significantly to the brand's expansion. Over the years, Kienzle has produced magnificent clocks of all kinds, including exquisite wall clocks such as the one featured here. Today, the company is still in business, headquartered in Hamburg.

The clock shown in the photos is made of solid wood, with the front panels veneered in walnut to create an attractive diamond-patterned design (frisage). The case is adorned with hand-carved and turned pieces that add interest and beauty: two twin columns flanking the glass door, several turned pieces serving as finials, and a small classic mask at the top. The dial is made of engraved brass and enameled white, with black Roman numerals; the beautiful original pendulum is connected to the movement located behind it. The movement bears various inscriptions, including the Kienzle logo, the serial number 55006, the initials D.R.P., and another number with the first digit partially erased: 8281.

This magnificent wall clock will look perfect in a large living room full of class and style, which it will enhance with its presence and its chime.
