Stylized Chinese White and Blue Porcelain Bowl. Hand-Painted and Marked with the Kangxi Mark

Beautiful Chinese white porcelain bowl with hand-painted blue decoration. This bowl is a delicate handcrafted piece, full of finesse and perfect for displaying in a glass cabinet or on a fine wood table. It is also an antique, handmade piece, possessing all the charm and elegance of high-quality Chinese porcelain. Against the fine white background, the bowl features interior and exterior decoration executed entirely in classic cobalt blue pigment. The decoration features dragons as its central motifs-mythological creatures central to Chinese tradition and often depicted on decorative pieces.

Specifically, on the exterior of this bowl, we see a series of dragons facing each other in pairs, surrounded by the classic curving patterns representing clouds and flames. The dragons exude ferocity and movement and are rendered in great detail. Particularly striking are their faces with open jaws: a sun is depicted between the heads of each pair of dragons. On the interior, a single dragon adorns the bottom of the bowl, accompanied by a circle that likely represents the moon (which also appears on the exterior) and surrounded by two concentric circles. On the interior, near the rim, there is also a beautiful blue border with geometric decoration.

The bowl is in good condition, showing only a small flaw on the rim from which a virtually imperceptible hairline crack extends. Otherwise, it is complete, and both the white porcelain and the blue decoration appear bright and clean. On the base of the piece, we can make out the Kangxi mark, inscribed beneath the glaze. This mark corresponds to porcelain produced during the reign of the emperor of the same name (1654-1722), the third emperor of the Qing Dynasty and the second to rule over all of China.

We are undoubtedly looking at a beautiful antique Chinese bowl that combines beauty and quality in equal measure.
