Beautiful brush and pencil holder carved from a piece of genuine buffalo horn. It is a highly exotic piece, in very good condition and lavishly decorated with hand-carved designs. The appeal of its decoration blends with the beauty of the material itself, with its irregular, sinuous shape and the gradations of color visible across its entire surface. The container dates from the 20th century and is in very good condition, making it the perfect item to stand out on an elegant desk thanks to its originality and exotic charm.

The piece takes advantage of the material's irregularities to highlight them, decorating them with carvings and reliefs. The colors of the buffalo horn, ranging from the deepest black to a beautiful, light, and brilliant amber-ochre, enhance the carver's work and lend it light and movement. The carvings are delicately executed with a precise and refined technique that reveals the hand of an excellent artist. The decoration depicts two traditional scenes, featuring several male figures beneath a lush canopy of trees.

On the base of the vessel, we can distinguish two different scenes. In one of them, two seated figures are looking at a grid-like board on which one of them is pointing to a specific spot. The other scene shows two other figures sitting on the ground, who appear to be chatting. Behind them rises an impressive forest of bamboo and other trees, with twisted branches and leafy canopies. Furthermore, at the base of the boat, we can see a signature carved from four ideograms inscribed within a square frame.
