Antique Chinese Thousand-Faced Fan. Lacquered Ribs with Gold Chinese Ornaments. 19th Century
Magnificent antique Chinese thousand-faced fan, with lacquered ribs and gold Chinese ornaments. This exquisite piece was crafted in the 19th century and is as attractive as it is unique. The ribs are in excellent condition: the black lacquer is deep and uniform, and the charming Chinese-style decoration stands out for its quality and attention to detail. The wood has been carefully carved to create pieces full of elegance. The fan depicts a multicolored scene, very much in the style of the era and typical of this type of fan. In various settings (both outdoors and indoors), a multitude of small figures dressed in cheerful attire engage in various leisure activities. The figures faces are hand-painted ivory appliqués; one of them is missing, but the rest are in excellent condition. The folds of the fan are slightly worn at the edges, but this is common in pieces over a century old. The fan retains its ferrule, adorned with a fuchsia and green silk tassel.
Exquisitely beautiful and delicate, this antique Chinese thousand-face fan, with lacquered ribs and gilded Chinese motifs, will make the perfect gift for any lover of beautiful, historic objects.
