Beautiful Antique Stethoscope Made of Silver-Plated Metal and Bakelite. 19th Century

This beautiful instrument is an antique detachable stethoscope. It is a tool for professional medical use, consisting of two parts that connect to each other. On one end is the silver-plated metal rod, one end of which terminates in a conical piece designed to rest against the ear to listen to sounds from the patients chest. The other end is inserted into the upper opening of a metal sphere connected to a circular piece of black Bakelite. This piece is placed against the patients chest for auscultation. The metal sphere has two additional openings on either side: when not in use, the rod is inserted through these holes, allowing the stethoscope to be neatly stored. This item is in excellent condition. It is a very beautiful piece of unquestionable quality.
