Antique Case with Trepanation Instruments. Germany, World War II

Attractive case containing surgical instruments for trepanation, manufactured in Germany and dating from the 1930s1940s. The instruments are complete and presented in their original solid wood case, which is very well preserved. The instruments are made of steel and are in magnificent condition, with hardly any signs of rust or wear. The metal pieces are engraved with the manufacturers name, HAUPTNER, which also appears on the label affixed to the front edge of the case.

The label bears the following inscription: H. HAUPTNER - Instrumentenfabrik - BERLIN - SOLINGEN. This refers to Hans Hauptner, who founded a workshop in Berlin in 1857 to manufacture medical and veterinary instruments. Over the years, the company grew, and in 1916 the factory in Solingen was built to meet the high demand of the time. Today, the brand still exists, after more than 150 years of history. The instruments in this case include a trephine, the hammer-shaped instrument seen in the center. This tool is accompanied by two crown drills, one of which is mounted on the trephine itself and the other housed in its corresponding compartment.

The set is rounded out by three additional pieces designed for drilling, deepening, or breaking bone. All of them are stored in a discreet and elegant light-colored wooden case, in very good condition. The instruments are neatly arranged in their respective compartments; these compartments are carved to the shape of each piece, so that each one fits perfectly in its own place. The wood is in good condition, with no stains, cracks, or significant damage.

Complete and with many years of history, this intriguing trepanation set is a rare and exclusive piece.
